In this episode of the Road to Growth podcast, we are pleased to introduce you to Lorna Watkinson. Prior to setting up her business, Lorna Watkinson worked at Procter and Gamble for nearly 20 years. She was based in Newcastle but worked with teams in London and Geneva so understands the challenges (and benefits) of a hybrid team working. In this new virtual and hybrid world of working this skill has never been more important as zoom fatigue becomes a reality and people's days are filled with back-to-back virtual meetings leaving no time to get the actual work done. Lorna also works with individuals, teams, and organizations that want to become more effective in this new world.
Lorna experienced how easily miscommunication can cause disruption but she has also experienced how it is possible to build very strong working relationships with people she never meets. She’s also passionate about using creativity to overcome challenges and she uses pottery painting as a tool in her workshops. You don’t need to see pottery painting as art or requiring artistic ability: it’s a vehicle for facilitating creative thinking to overcome challenges, with the added benefit of being a rewarding and absorbing activity for everyone.

She climbed the career ladder at an early-stage Start-Up in the commercial construction technology industry to Director of Business Development and demonstrated success driving multi-million dollar sales growth while providing award-winning sales leadership. After a personal challenge managing her home, Elizabeth decided to build the very solution she needed to save money, save time, and reduce her stress. Now she is the Co-Founder of HomeZada, an online and mobile home management portal that helps homeowners manage their homes to save time and money and reduce stress. Specifically, HomeZada educates homeowners in the areas of home management, inventory, maintenance, remodeling projects, and finances. Elizabeth also offers her experience as an active mentor in programs offered by Stevenson and Loyola Universities and American Corporate Partners.

For the last 15 years, Simona has been a guest lecturer on the International Business course at the School of Economics and Business, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. When she's not helping her clients and guarding their secrets, you'll find her living in Ljubljana, Slovenia, with her long-term partner. She is a passionate traveler and loves the color black. She is also a big fan and supporter of local jewelry makers and buys the majority of her clothes from boutique shops. Jessica is a born entrepreneur, having started her first venture at age nine selling bouquets of picked dandelions to willing customers. Since then, she’s graduated to selling millions of dollars in ad sales, and she’s played an integral role in helping several businesses grow from start-up to in excess of $15 million in sales each.
Her drive and excitement for entrepreneurship has never wavered. Having assisted her clients in reaching millionaire status using her unique ability to create a lead generation strategy while consulting on the organizational structure and function of the company, Jessica knows what it takes to achieve financial and growth goals for her clients all while enjoying the ever-important work/life balance.
Her award-winning work as a serial entrepreneur, having started, scaled, and sold several businesses of her own, an advertising agency owner, and as the primary breadwinner for her family have prepared Jessica to be the greatest guide and accountability “partner” you could have in your business. Jessica has more than 25 years of experience as both an entrepreneur (leading teams of hundreds) and in the corporate world and a master’s degree in communications with a focus on conflict management.
She lives in the Philadelphia area with her husband, a skateboarding legend, and their two sons, who also excel in extreme sports and are budding entrepreneurs. When she’s not working, you can find her participating in various outdoor activities with her family and friends (preferably in Vermont). At age 39, Sean suffered a stroke from a massive blood clot in his carotid artery. He was induced into a coma for 10 days and had to undergo several surgeries. Doctors predicted he would never speak, walk, or live a normal life again.
I can, I shall, I will.
This mantra helped him through the most difficult times in his life.
Even with this diagnosis, Sean displayed unwavering strength and spent his next years rehabilitating his soul and body—overcoming the mental barrier of “why me?”—proving to himself and everyone else that he had a purpose in life, that he was chosen for a reason, and that he had the motivation to keep going for even more.
After many years of carefully following all kinds of recommendations and advice in order to regain his independence and having failed and succeeded with many of those treatments, Sean now knew what worked and what didn’t… He had finally managed to hack his stroke.
He was now a different person, full of understanding, compassion, humility, and an example of inspiration in times of trouble. His life had changed. He was starting over… with many more obstacles, but with a motivation bigger than himself: to help others.
Thus, the Stroke Hacker Community was born.
Many people were inspired by his story, and those who went through a similar journey reached out to him for help and advice.
Now, those who have suffered from brain injuries have a place where they can share their stories, their accomplishments, and their own tips for improving their overall health and wellness. Guided by Sean, they have discovered their sense of purpose and hope and are getting closer and closer to their recoveries, their independence, and everything they dream of getting back.

In this episode of the Road to Growth podcast, we are pleased to introduce you to Mark Ritter. Mark is the CEO of MBFS and Nu Direction Lending. He is an expert in all things credit union and small business lending. Both organized are owned by credit unions and designed to help credit unions fund more loans to real estate investors and small business owners in their communities.
In 2002, Mark started Members 1st Federal Credit Union’s business lending program as “one person and a desk” with no policies, products, staff, systems, or business members. That program grew to be one of the top ten in the nation in the number of loans, balances outstanding, and loan participations for federal credit unions. After ten years at Members 1st, he took on the challenge of being the CEO of a business lending credit union service organization (CUSO). Mark was the fifth CEO in five years for the organization, which lost money every month of its existence. In the past eight years at MBFS, Mark increased the number of credit unions the company services by over 8x, grew the revenue by 15x, and ensured positive cash flow every full year he’s been at the CUSO. More importantly, MBFS has helped countless credit union members gain the financing they need for small business and real estate investment needs.
Mark is a native of Berwick, PA in northeast Pennsylvania, where he was a member of his high school’s nationally ranked and state championship football team. After high school, Mark hung up his cleats to work for the Penn State Nittany Lions full-time as a student assistant while attending Penn State as an undergrad. During this time Penn State transitioned to the Big Ten and culminated in Penn State’s first Big Ten Championship and a trip to the Rose Bowl. Mark remains an avid Penn State supporter. Today Mark lives in Bucks County, PA outside of Doylestown with his wife and two teenagers.
